Nurturing one child at a time

OUR AIM, VALUES AND COMMITMENTS

OUR AIM

As an authentic Montessori, our fundamental objective is to provide individualistic learning for every child in achieving his or her highest potential, hence our motto ‘Nurturing one child at a time.’

Following proven Montessori principles and curriculum, our ultimate goal is to provide our children with the foundation for their holistic development –  nurturing intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual areas. We strive to achieve this by offering an enriched learning environment of excellence, respect, independence, love, and harmony.

OUR VALUES

Our seven core values – Integrity, Equality, Dignity, Respect, Compassion, Love, and Harmony – define our school’s identity, its purpose and reflect our sincere commitment to the Montessori philosophy.

We are dedicated to instilling these values in our children and upholding them while providing our services to everyone in the school community – children, staff, volunteers, parents, guardians, suppliers, and others associated with the school.

OUR COMMITMENTS

1. First Priority  – Our Children

Core to Montessori is a deep respect for each child.  This means respecting their freedom, allowing them to choose, move around, correct their own mistakes, and work at their own pace.  As authentic Montessorians, we are committed to understanding every child and directing the learning activities to suit each child.

We recognize that hungry children cannot focus and can be disruptive.  Thus we ensure our children eat properly during lunchtime and that snacks are available throughout the day for them.  Rest assured that they will be respected, loved, and cared for in our home-away-from-home environment.

2. Quality – Montessori Curriculum

We are an authentic Montessori school and our classrooms are set up with quality Montessori materials. True to Montessori, our programs are designed to provide holistic development that enables each child to develop at their own pace academically, physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

While we follow Montessori guidelines and Church Street Montessori was the 1st AMI Recognized school in the York Region, we go beyond these requirements in incorporating frequent walking trips with children to explore the neighbourhood to make learning more fun and develop social skills.

3. Excellence – Environment and Staff

Enriched learning happens when you encourage children’s natural curiosity to learn by offering them an intellectually stimulating learning environment in which they are free to choose, explore and learn independently.

Our teachers are experienced, skilled, caring, and compassionate.  Our Directresses and senior staff are AMI trained and have over 30 years of combined Montessori experience. They are skilled at directing our classrooms in a manner that allows us to pay individualistic attention so that we can nurture each child to develop at his or her own pace.

4. Focus – Holistic Development

We make every effort to provide the foundation for holistic development for our children to become intelligent, creative, independent thinkers who are confident and socially fit to approach the challenges of life.  Our approach – Montessori curriculum mixed with field trips and volunteer activities, fosters holistic development – i.e. the development of intellectual, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual areas altogether for enabling our children to become balanced individuals.

Our authentic Montessori learning environment nurtures:

  • Honesty, integrity, and mutual respect
  • Determination and excellence
  • Creativity and innovation
  • Leadership, collaboration, and autonomy
  • Compassion and kindness
  • Love and affection
  • Self-Reflection
  • Individual responsibility
  • Social and environmental responsibility

5. Conduct – One Unified Community

At KinderHaus Montessori, we make every effort to provide a learning environment that is safe, friendly, and intellectually stimulating. We like our school to be the home-away-from-home for our young children where they feel comfortable to be free, explore and learn.  However, since children never stop observing, interacting, and exploring, nurturing them requires the environment outside of the classroom to be harmonious as well.

This can only be achieved when all in the school community (parents, students, teachers, volunteers, and others associated with the school) abide by applicable laws, school’s policies, regulations, and can count on one another to share the space amicably and treat each other with courtesy, dignity, and respect no matter where they are.

Our Code of Conduct defines the governing principles for everyone in our school community.  We are dedicated to following our Code of Conduct and upholding our values in delivering our services to our children, parents, and our community.  We trust that you will join us in building a unified community that is safe and harmonious to nurture our little treasures.

BOOK A TOUR FOR AN OBSERVATION

Observing a classroom is important for understanding the learning environment and how we encourage each child towards learning through sensorial exploration and self-discovery.  Watching the teacher-child interactions will also enable you to assess the skills of our teachers and our commitment to the Montessori method.

We understand the importance of observing a classroom in action in selecting a school for your children.  We will make every effort to accommodate your visit.  Please contact us to book a tour and arrange for an observation of our learning environment.
