Our unique Preschool/Casa program for children 2.5 to 6 years of age focuses on holistic education. It combines an authentic Montessori curriculum with frequent walking trips around the school. We take pride in nurturing children who are not only proficient in mathematics and language but also well-rounded and socially fit.
While we – our curriculum, classrooms, staff qualifications, and teaching standards – follow the Montessori guidelines and Church Street Montessori was the 1st AMI Recognized school in the York Region, we go beyond these requirements. Taking advantage of our unique location in the serene Oak Ridges area of Richmond Hill, we take children in small groups to nearby parks, nature reserve, bank, post office, and other local businesses. These short trips make learning more practical and fun for our children, and also allow them also to develop general knowledge and social skills. In addition, we include our children in planning volunteer activities that fosters within them values of empathy, kindness, and compassion.
Our program also aligns with the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014. It is also consistent with the Ontario Ministry of Education’s policy on programming and pedagogy on How Does Learning Happen? For more details about our program alignment, please request to review our Program Statement in our Parent Handbook.
