What we do

Dive deeper into what your child will be doing in a typical week at KinderHaus Montessori. Food is fresh and diverse, outdoor activities are plentiful, and learning is built into everything.

We love food

A healthy relationship with food starts with discovery. We cook our food from scratch and include a wide variety of flavours and textures. Snacks aren't just provided, they are involved lessons where our students learn to juice oranges, peel hard boiled eggs, and slice apples - even as toddlers.

We thrive outdoors

We play outside for a minimum of two hours each day. On nicer days we might do a lot more and we often venture beyond the confines of our property to our local parks, lake, or trails.

No containers, no screens

We believe that children deserve independence and thrive on interaction.

We learn together

Classroom activities for toddlers are curated and plentiful to help build independence through physical growth and development.

Once ready, Casa activities build a foundation for math, literacy, and science.

For all, teamwork, respect, patience, and a love of learning are built into the process.

Days at KinderHaus

French Immersion

In our Montessori classrooms, children are naturally immersed in both English and French. With one guide speaking exclusively in French, children are encouraged to absorb and explore both languages in a meaningful, hands-on way. This bilingual approach nurtures independence, curiosity, and cultural appreciation while supporting each child’s natural development.

Sample food menu

All food is cooked and prepared in house. Recent meals served include:

  • Lentil rice with cauliflower, carrots, and spinach
  • Zucchini, potato, cauliflower, egg, and bean patties with bread
  • Salmon, rice, spinach, and green peas
  • Bean pasta with spinach, edamame, and carrots
  • Rice with shrimp, green peas, and coloured peppers
  • Khichdi with lentils, green beans, carrots, and peas

Dietary accommodations

We're happy to accommodate for most dietary needs. Please send us a message and we'll be in contact soon!

Naps

Most of our younger children nap while most Casa children do not. Our small size allows for us to give allowance between groups so that younger kids who have dropped their nap can join the rest of the school outside to avoid disturbing anyone's rest. Some Casa children will join in the nap room as well.

When your child is starting at KinderHaus we will find an arrangement that works best for your child's needs, and can always re-evaluate later too as they grow.

Montessori

We are deeply committed to the Montessori philosophy and that respect and caring stays consistent every interaction we have with each other and our environment. Our space and choice of activities reflect this too as we follow the AMI curriculum.

Time outside

Each day all our students have two periods of outside time. On hot days we set up water play in our backyard. Aside from that we take advantage whenever the weather is nice for an extended time outside and will walk together to the nearest playground, the grocery store, the bakery, the turtle sanctuary, or even Lake Wilcox.
